the move

After days of searching for a new apartment and looking for jobs, I finally find some time to write new posts on Kai’s blog.

Yes, we are going to move, move to an apartment near a huge park – Tianhe Park. Then when we look out of the balcony, we can at least see a big area of greenery, not just an forest of high buildings with narrow streets snaking around them.

Moving will be a big change, not just the height of our home to the ground. We live on the 33rd floor. It doesn't mean that we "really" live on the 33rd floor, as the building where we live doesn't list any number which contains 4. So there are no 4th, 14th or 24th floor, because 4 sounds like death in Cantonese. But even so, it's still MUCH higher than the 4th floor we are going to move in. It's also a change from a superstitious building to a non-superstitious building, in the same district.

Moving would mean something to everyone. Jonathan will be able to lie in the bed 5 minutes longer in the morning, Kai will have a big park to play in, and Mum and Dad will have somewhere to do exercise. We are going to leave many nice memories behind, and create more happy memories in our new home.

Wow, Jun, how exciting! And what a view! I mean - how horrible the old one, how lovely the new one! And the information about floor numbers is also really interesting!! So, are you going to exercise in the park? I can just about picture you, doing yoga poses there. Next summer we can swap pictures - I'll send you a downward facing dog from the beach, and you can send me one from the park ;-)

... How I wish we would also move to a nicer house, with room enough for a little table and chair for Tara, and a room for me too...

No problem Alex, but I have to practice hard on downward facing dog to get a nice picture. I look forward to seeing you doing yoga on the beach.
